Basic Information 

Make sure to have your septic system accessible for easy septic maintenance, inspections, plumbing, and septic pumping. 

Have your tank pumped out every 2-4 years depending on the number of persons in the household, some may have to be done every year (Even if you put enzymes yeast or any other products, these products do not make sludge disappear it must be pumped out).

If your system has a filter it should be inspected and cleaned every 6 months and when your tank is pumped out . 

Refrain from flushing wipes, feminine products, or any other type of trash down the toilet.

Avoid putting excess amounts of any chemicals, solvents, or paints that can harm the good bacteria in your tank. The bacteria is responsible for breaking down the solids.

Do not pour grease or oils down any drain connected to the septic system.

Avoid planting trees or shrubs near the septic system tank or drain fields to prevent roots from invading and causing damage.
